For shits and giggles I'm installing my stepbro's copy of Portal.

I don't expect it to be playable on my Dell Inspiron 1501.

Holy shit! It works great! I'm playing Portal! There goes my weekend!

ETA: Goddamnit. It crashes in test chamber 8. Every time! Augh.
ETAII: FIXED!
ETAIII: Not so much! I don't think I have enough RAM I'm getting pagefile crashes or something.

Yeah pagefile would definitely be ram problems. cheap to fix on a pc... definitely not fun for a lappytop

Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance Settings

Advanced/Virtual Memory/Change

Set it to custom size, with an initial of 2048 and a maximum of 2048.

That should give you 2gb of pagefile, more than enough for your kooky FPS games!

I tried that! I think I set it w/ an initial of 1000 and a max of 3000. Still no luck. Maybe I'll try overclocking lol.
